Riverside Consulting

Operations advice that ends in a working process, not a slide deck

Harborline works with 20 to 300 person companies on the unglamorous parts of growth: planning cycles, handoffs between teams, and the reports leadership actually reads. Every engagement has a fixed scope, a fixed fee, and a named consultant.

Four things we are asked for most

Operating cadence

We set up the meeting, planning and reporting rhythm a company needs at its current size, then run it with you for a quarter so it sticks.

Process mapping

We follow a real order, ticket or hire end to end, write down every handoff, and cut the steps that only exist because someone left.

Reporting you trust

One set of numbers, defined in writing, pulled from a single source. Most clients discover two departments were counting the same thing differently.

Team structure

Role clarity and span of control when a flat team has outgrown itself, including the awkward conversations about who decides what.

How an engagement runs. Week one is listening. We interview eight to twelve people across levels, read your existing documents, and sit in on the meetings you already hold. We do not ask you to prepare anything for us.

Week two we come back with what we found, including the parts you may not enjoy hearing. From there we agree on two or three changes worth making, and the rest of the engagement is spent building and testing them with the people who will own them afterwards.

What clients say afterwards

We had three planning processes running at once and nobody would admit it. Harborline mapped them in a fortnight and we retired two. Our quarterly planning now takes four days instead of five weeks.

I expected a report. What I got was a weekly operating review that my managers now run without me in the room.
Tom Ashwell
Managing Director, Ashwell Fabrication
They told us in week two that our real problem was a hiring bottleneck, not the software we were about to buy. That advice saved us six figures.

Questions we get before signing

Do you work remotely or on site?

Both. The listening week is far better in person, so we budget two or three days on site for it. After that most work happens over video with a site visit every couple of weeks.

Will you tell our staff you are consultants?

Yes. We have never found a good reason to hide it, and people tend to be more useful when they know why you are asking.

What if we want to stop halfway?

Engagements are billed monthly and either side can end them with two weeks notice. You keep everything produced up to that point.

Do you implement software?

No. We will help you write the requirements and sit in on vendor demos, but we do not resell or configure systems, and we take no referral fees.

How soon can you start?

Usually three to five weeks out. If something is genuinely urgent, say so in the first call and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

Not sure whether you need this?

The first call is 30 minutes, costs nothing, and ends with a straight answer about whether we are the right people for the problem you described.
